• Rebeca Hwang

    Rebeca Hwang is Kalei’s founder and General Partner. Born in South Korea and raised in Argentina, she contributes with her experience as an innovator and inventor, founder and entrepreneur, social entrepreneur, educator and ecosystem builder, with engineering degrees and doctoral work from MIT and Stanford. Rebeca co-founded Rivet Ventures - an early-stage Venture Capital Fund based in San Francisco - and YouNoodle, a start-up competition platform originally backed by Peter Thiel and Max Levchin, and Charles Lho, a Korean angel investor. She teaches Tech Entrepreneurship at Stanford and has taught at Tec de Monterrey for half a decade. She co-founded CleanTech Open (now the largest cleantech competition in the US) and the Startup Nations Summit. Rebeca was an advisor for Startup Peru, co-chair of The Mexico-U.S. Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council with INADEM, advisor to SFactory in Chile for female entrepreneurs, and created and led the program Kofounders with support from the agency of the Korean government, KISED. Rebeca has advised several startup ecosystem development programs, including initiatives in Malaysia, South Korea, Spain, Iceland, Chile, Peru, Mexico, and Singapore. Rebeca's investment career was based on finding overlooked opportunities and in finding contrarian investment roadmaps: by creating a female-market focused VC she built a portfolio of more than 20 startups in Silicon Valley, including Hooked, Dote and Ritual. Her background is a perfect fit for this joint Fund, with insider understanding of both Korea and Latin America and 20 years of building her network in the tech community of Silicon Valley.

  • Juan Santiago Carbonell

    Juan Santiago is Kalei’s General Partner leading growth strategy. Originally from Argentina, he’s lived between there and California for 25 years. He contributes with his investment experience and as founder of global technology companies. He was co-founder and CEO of Santex, a global software company and Incutex Company Builders, the first of its kind in Argentina. He has also been investing in startups in Argentina for eight years, while being instrumental to the development of the local ecosystem. Juan is an advisor and Board member of Endeavor and Comunidad Empresaria. Juan's was recognized with the award Outstanding Entrepreneur of 2014, Best Technology Company of 2014 and Entrepreneur of 2014. His extensive network with the business community in Latin America, having operated and invested in most of the region, Juan provides a pulse of what is likely to succeed in Latin America, and will offer advice on how to localize products to the region.

  • Leandro Pisaroni Gerbaldo

    Leandro Pisaroni is Kalei’s General Partner leading operations and deal sourcing. He contributes with his investment experience in early stage technological startups, as well as his extensive knowledge and networks with LAC founders. He was Fund Manager and Operations Director at Incutex Company Builders in Argentina. He serves as Ambassador for ASEA and contributor to Shaper Impact Capital. As a Global Shaper selected by the WEF, he is leading projects on gender equality, STEM entrepreneurship and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

  • Pablo Gutierrez Oyhanarte

    Pablo Gutierrez is Kalei’s General Partner leading relations and value creation with portfolio companies and investors. His background includes a vast experience both as a consultant/advisor and as an operator.

    After 3 years at Bain & Company in San Pablo he started his career in entrepreneurship and innovation. As country manager, he led argentinean operations @Hellofood, a Rocket Internet company. Pablo co-founded beneficiosdeempleados.com, Woiro and Super Directo and remains a board member in 2 of these. He is also board member at Law Works, his first deal as Angel Investor. Additionally, he had experience in corporate innovation @BancoGalicia where he lead their digital platforms and managed the young tech savvy segment (Move)

    Pablo is currently a 2nd year MBA at Columbia Business School in New York City. There he holds leadership positions in the most relevant boards such as the Venture Capital Club, the Columbia Entrepreneurs Club and the Latin America Business Association. During the summer he interned at Techstars New York, a world class accelerator.
